The company

Who is Rice Brothers Canada?

Rice Brothers Canada, Ltd. is the Canadian company of Rice Brothers, an industrial engineering, design, construction and maintenance firm founded in Houston, Texas. We deliver EPC projects and plant services for industrial clients across Canada from our office in Calgary, Alberta.

Where is your Canadian office?

Rice Brothers Canada, Ltd., 685 Centre Street South, Suite 2700, Calgary, AB T2G 1S5. Call +1 587 332 1270 or email info@rice-brothers.ca.

How is Rice Brothers Canada related to Rice Brothers in the United States?

We’re part of the same family-run organization. Rice Brothers Canada carries the same people, methods and safety program to Canadian projects, with the full Rice Brothers organization behind us when a project needs more people or equipment. The US company is at rice-brothers.com.

Who leads the company?

Rice Brothers is led by an executive team with decades of industrial construction experience, including Chief Executive Officer Andrew Rice. Meet the full team on our about page.

What makes Rice Brothers different from other contractors?

We self-perform all major craft disciplines, so one company is responsible from engineering through construction and maintenance. We’re family-run, we put safety ahead of everything else, and our leadership has more combined experience than most companies have in total.

Services

See every service on our services page.

What services do you provide?

Four core services: engineering and design, industrial construction (including storage and treatment systems), plant maintenance, and HVAC, refrigeration and plumbing.

What does EPC mean?

Engineering, procurement and construction. One contractor designs the project, buys the equipment and materials, and builds it, which gives you a single point of responsibility from first drawing to handover.

Do you have to do the whole project, or can we hire you for one part?

Either works. We take on engineering only, construction only, maintenance only, or full EPC.

Which crafts do you self-perform?

All major craft disciplines, including piping, mechanical, structural, concrete, HVAC, and electrical and instrumentation.

Can you work inside a plant that's still running?

Yes. Most of our construction and maintenance happens in operating facilities, and we plan the work around your production schedule.

Do you handle small jobs as well as large projects?

Yes. We take on everything from small jobs to large and complex projects.

Where we work

More on our areas served page.

Which parts of Canada do you serve?

All of it. We’re based in Calgary and work in every province and territory: Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

Where do you work most often?

The regions closest to our Calgary base: Calgary and Southern Alberta, Edmonton and the Industrial Heartland, Fort McMurray and the oil sands, Red Deer, Grande Prairie and the Montney, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. That’s where we start, not where we stop.

Do you take on remote or fly-in projects?

Yes. Rice Brothers has completed complex EPC projects in remote and challenging locations, and we plan travel, accommodation, material delivery and weather into the job from day one.

My site isn't near a major city. Will you still quote it?

Yes. We don’t have a service radius. If the project fits what we do, we’ll quote it wherever it is.

Industries

More on our industries page.

Which industries do you serve?
Will you work in an industry that isn't on your list?

Yes. We also take on mining, potash and fertilizer, pulp and paper, LNG, hydrogen and carbon capture, agriculture, pharmaceutical, utilities and distribution centres. If your project needs skilled crews who work safely in an operating facility, it’s probably a fit, and if it isn’t we’ll tell you straight away.

Do you build data centers?

Yes. We deliver mission-critical data center EPC, including liquid cooling, high-density power, prefabrication and five-level commissioning. See our data center page.

Safety

More on our safety page.

How does Rice Brothers approach safety?

Safety is our number one priority. Our vision is that safety saves lives and quality saves jobs. We train our field management to recognize, avoid and prevent the conditions that lead to accidents, and Rice Brothers Canada carries the same program to every Canadian site.

What training do your workers complete before going on site?

Every employee completes company orientation, Basic Plus+, site-specific orientation, pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, respirator fit testing, a medical evaluation and physical, and NCCER or equivalent industry certification.

Who leads your safety program?

Daniel Garcia, CSP, our Director of Environmental Health and Safety. Daniel is a bilingual Certified Safety Professional with more than 15 years of HSE leadership across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Which safety and prequalification organizations are you part of?

Our memberships and prequalifications include Associated Builders and Contractors, NASC Health and Safety Council, PEPLS, ISN, Avetta, Veriforce and Rockwater.
